Virtual Code of Conduct
Check out this post from Brandflakes for Breakfast. IBM has a code of conduct for virtual worlds right down to how your avatar looks and dresses. On one hand, it makes sense from an HR standpoint, if you're conducting business in Second Life then I suppose having a dress and conduct code is important for your company brand as well as the safety of employees and clients. I think we'll see more and more of these conduct codes for use of online networking tools like Second Life. While I know it's important so that employees know what is expected of them and can represent their company professionally... It still feels a little unsettling. It just feels a little 1984 to me.
Update:
Found this little gem on Brazen Careerist that relates quite nicely. Read: What You Do Outside of Work Matters by Rachel Robbins.
